With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Tyler Allen Chalmers, age 33, on September 13, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tyler was born on May 30, 1992, in Santa Rosa, California, to David Stites and Laura Chalmers, and from the very beginning, he brought joy, laughter, and kindness into the lives of all who knew him.
Tyler's early years were full of adventure, accompanying his mother as she pursued her medical training across California, St. Maarten, Ireland, and Oklahoma. These experiences shaped his love for people, culture, and connection. A graduate of Jenks High School and the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his business degree, Tyler was proud to have been accepted into the University of San Francisco's Sports Management Master's Program.
Sports were a lifelong passion. Tyler began playing baseball at the age of four while living in St. Maarten and later tried his hand at soccer and hurling in Ireland. His grandfather introduced him to ice skating at age five, sparking a love for hockey that carried through high school and beyond. He attended the Minnesota State Boys' High School Hockey Tournament twelve years in a row, always cheering with enthusiasm. He was also a devoted fan of OU football, basketball, LeBron James, Barry Bonds, and, truly, any game that brought people together.
Tyler loved music, food, and travel. He was known as the "foodie" in the family-always knowing the best local spots-and he never passed up an opportunity to share a meal. A lover of dogs, every visit to his family's home was complete only after countless games of fetch.
More than anything, Tyler will be remembered for his heart. He was lovable, compassionate, and kind-someone who cared deeply about people and relationships. Friends often called him a "big teddy bear," because he made others feel comfortable, welcome, and loved. He had a great sense of humor and a carefree spirit, yet he carried a deep empathy for others and a strong desire to see harmony within his family. Tyler reminded everyone to love one another, and he never left without giving a hug. He often joked that he should have been a therapist, because people were drawn to open up to him and leave with lighter hearts.
Tyler's memory will be cherished by his mother, Laura Chalmers, and stepfather, Mike Mullane; his father, David Stites; his grandparents, Susanne and David Chalmers, and Richard and Linda Stites; his siblings, Micheal Mullane and Emalie Mullane; his nephew, Gaberial Mullane; his girlfriend, Allison Ballenger; his aunts and uncles, Karen Reid, Thomas Chalmers, Frank and Susan Mullane, Paula Mullane, Trisha (Stites) Antell, and Cindy (Stites) Hinds; his cousins, Sebastian, Norrin, and Storm Chalmers, Brandon and Russell Antell, and many more from both sides of his family; as well as his great-aunt and uncle, and countless friends who were like family.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Lester and Marie Rubedor; his uncle, Christopher Mullane; his cousin, JoAnne Allen; his great-aunt, Frances Rojeski; his great-uncle, Robert Rojeski; and his mentor and friend, Nikki Spatafora.
Tyler's family takes comfort in his words and the joy he brought into this world:
"Smilz travel 4 milez" - T. $. Tyme
"Make it a great day or not; the choice is up to you."
In honor of Tyler's life and spirit, donations may be made to John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa.
Tyler's presence was a gift, and his absence leaves an unfillable void. His hugs, his laughter, and his gentle reminders to love each other will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
