Tommy Joseph Macon

March 20, 1955 — May 17, 2025

Tommy Joseph Macon, 70, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on May 17, 2025. He was born on March 20, 1955, in Freeport, Texas, to John Joseph Macon and Phyllis “Faye” Eaton Goff.

Tommy was a devoted husband to Linda Zumwalt Macon for 42 years. He was a proud father to Thomas Macon (Charity) and James "Bradley" Macon (Melissa), and a loving grandfather to Macy, Boyd, and Hollis Macon. He is also survived by his sisters Darla Thomas (Clayton) and LaNae White (John), and numerous in-laws, including Tom (Frieda), Tim (Theresa), and Dan Zumwalt (Melissa), Brenda Talley (Lester), sisters-in-law Evelyn and Betty Zumwalt, a stepbrother, Dan Goff (Connie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Tommy also leaves behind his dear friends, Wayne and Doris Shoemaker, who he regarded as family. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Jimmy and Russell Zumwalt

Tommy loved his church and was a dedicated servant, helping wherever he saw a need and always doing “whatever his hands found to do as unto the Lord”. Tommy was a modest man, never seeking man’s recognition, but rather longing for God’s approval in all he did. Tommy would read his Bible daily, for hours at a time. He had deep faith and lived it by giving, serving, and showing kindness to everyone around him.

He was a talented carpenter/woodworker, that could build anything from Christmas trees to entire houses, you could show him a picture of what you had in mind, and he would figure out how to make it happen, (or just flat out tell you that you were “crazy” and that there was no way it would ever work. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail and strove for perfection in all his work. He believed there was a place for everything, and everything should be in its place.

Tommy also enjoyed cooking and smoking meat. He prepared many meals for his family and close friends. He hosted unforgettable 4th of July celebrations, and made sure every family gathering was filled with laughter, good food, and warm hospitality. He loved people and loved making them feel at home.

He was dependable, generous with his time, and never complained. You could always count on Tommy—he was steady, kind, and always smiling.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
