Timothy Johnston

September 9, 1955 — March 13, 2024

Timothy Lee Johnston, age 68, a resident of Coweta , Oklahoma, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Tim was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, September 9, 1955, to Philip and Glea Johnston. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Studies and a Master in Architecture from Oklahoma State University.

After graduation Tim worked for the School of Architecture for a couple years as a research associate on earth sheltered homes and other alternative energy areas. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Carolyn Siddens. Tim and Carolyn were married on May 17, 1981. After accepting a job in Tulsa in 1982 with a startup software company Tim would work in various software companies doing customer support, training, documentation and part time I.T. work. Eventually, he would be doing full-time I.T. work over the last 15 years or so of his career.

One of the benefits of doing a lot of remote training was the opportunity to travel to many of the NE states, Canada and several weeks in England. Carolyn was able to be in England some with Tim and they were able to do a lot of exploring by train.

Family vacations around the U.S. were a priority during Tim's growing up years. The focal point was to get back to the San Juan mountains in SW Colorado. This love to explore God's creation and US key historical sites continued with Carolyn, the girls and grandkids.

Photograph and video editing were areas of fun and focus. Tim did youth camp videos, funeral celebration videos, and around 25 wedding videos for friends and family.

Tim was a member of the Church of God (7th Day) in Tulsa for 40 plus years. He tried to serve and help in whatever role was put before him. He would be involved with teaching, youth work, a lot of technology from website to video streaming, event photographer, serving as treasurer, building construction, building cleaning and serving on the Board of Elders. The church's teachings including the seventh day sabbath rest was a great delight.

Tim is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home and his daughter Anna Lewis of Mounds, OK, six grandchildren- Lydia Tollette and husband Cody, Eion Rigney, Natalie Rigney, Colton Lewis, Seth Barthelme and Faith Bartheleme, one great-grandson, Jason Tollette, Tim's brother, Tod and his husband, Mark of Port Townsend, Washington.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Glea Johnston; daughter, Janie Hanson and her husband Matt.

While we could always hope to have done more, Tim felt very blessed to enjoy a great life around great people. Then to think of all the Heavenly Father has in store in the eternal Kingdom, nothing but unimaginable good ahead!

A visitation for Tim will be held at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service, 1329 East 151st St. Glenpool, OK 74033, Tuesday, March 19, 2024 5:00-8:00 PM.

The family kindly requests that, if you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tim's memory consider making a donation to the Tulsa Church of God 7th Day in his name. Tim held a deep connection to the church throughout his life, and such a gesture would be greatly appreciated in his memory.
