Thomas McDonald

November 10, 1946 — June 14, 2025

Thomas R. McDonald, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on November 10, 1946, Thomas lived a life rooted in faith, love, and creativity.

A member of the Church of Christ in Henryetta, Oklahoma, Thomas had a deep and abiding love for the Lord. He found great joy and peace in reading the Bible, and his faith was a guiding light throughout his life. For those who loved him, the assurance that Thomas knew where he was going brings deep comfort in this time of loss.

Thomas had a passion for the outdoors. He especially loved fishing in the Deep Fork River, where he found both relaxation and connection with nature. He also cherished camping trips with his devoted wife, Vickie - time spent together that he held dear. Their love was something special; Thomas adored Vickie, and being with her was one of his life's greatest joys.

He was a gifted and creative carpenter, known for building everything from patios to anything his family might need. Thomas had a knack for fixing things and a heart for helping others. His hands built more than wood structures - they built memories, comfort, and love.

Thomas was known for his warm heart and contagious laughter. He had a special way of making people smile and took genuine joy in lifting others up. He loved everyone he met and made sure they felt it.

Above all, Thomas treasured his family. He had a deep and enduring love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was always happiest when surrounded by them.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Layla McDonald, his brother Claude (Ossie) McDonald, and his sister Connie McDonald.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Vickie McDonald; sisters Berta Effinger and Debbie McDonald; brothers Bill McDonald and Robbie McDonald; his daughter Dana Witt; grandsons Colton Witt and his wife Alyssa, and Garett Witt; granddaughter Kassie Schimkaitis and her husband Jonathan; and great-grandchildren Colton Witt Jr., Eleanor Schimkaitis, and Neil Schimkaitis. He also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Thomas will be remembered for his faith, kindness, laughter, and the deep love he had for his family and the Lord. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
