Thomas Laust, 83, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on January 16, 2026. He entered this world on July 9, 1942, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, born to Clarence Laust and Lady Jeane Laust.
Thomas was a simple, mild-mannered man whose quiet presence brought comfort to those around him. He was known for his gentle spirit, patient nature, and steady kindness. Rarely upset and never one to seek attention, Thomas lived his life with calm devotion and a soft heart.
He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Thomas loved tending to his garden and, above all, caring for cats-feeding every one he encountered with genuine compassion. One of his favorite pastimes was lovingly "bugging" his wife, Karen, a reflection of the deep affection they shared throughout their 39 years of marriage. Their bond was built on love, laughter, and a quiet understanding that defined their life together.
Thomas is survived by his devoted spouse, Karen Laust; his daughters, Kimberly Stoy and her husband Bart Stoy, and Rebecca Jeffrey; his son, Brian Laust; his stepson, Christopher Nix; his sister, Judith and her husband Mike McGovern; his brother-in-law, Bobby Phillips; his sister-in-law, Velma; along with 11 cherished grandchildren and 12 adored great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lady Jeane Laust; his stepsons, Billy Nix and Michael Nix; and his brother, Jeffrey Laust.
Thomas will be remembered for his gentle soul, his quiet love for family, his kindness to cats, and the peaceful way he moved through life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
