Thomas J Laxton

On December 12, 2021, Tommy Laxton, age 91, died peacefully in his home of 26 years.
Tommy was born December 4, 1930, in Maud, Oklahoma

He graduated from Liberty High School at Liberty, Oklahoma in 1949.Tommy began working for the Okmulgee Daily Times in 1949 and retired in 1992, after 43 years of running the press.

Tommy loved Jesus and served him faithfully as Pastor of Lakeview Community Church from 1988 to March 2021. He exemplified what it means to be the "hands and feet of Jesus". Tommy's family and friends describe him as sweet, kind, patient, loving, joyful, a gentle spirit, and he had a great sense of humor.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane Laxton; son, Wendell Laxton, and his wife, Elena of Arvada, CO; daughter, Teresa Ward of Wimberley, TX, stepson, Dr. Ken White, and his husband, Dr. Carl Outen, of Afton, VA and Boston, MA; stepdaughter, Brenda Wilson, and her husband, Brad, of Okmulgee, OK; grandson, Hutch Laxton, and his wife Stacy, of Stillwater, OK; granddaughter Kelly Caskey of Lenexa, KS; granddaughter, Tara Dry, and her husband, Billy, of Tulsa, OK; six great grandchildren: Kaylen Heath, Ryan & Aidan Caskey, Barbara Laxton, Maddox & Lynlee Dry.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tom Noah and Samantha Haley Laxton, and his sister, Wanda Laxton.
