Susan Debra Spurlock (née Bajza), born March 3, 1958, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026. In her final days, she was surrounded by the people she loved most. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Susie lived a life defined by fierce loyalty, unshakeable love, and a spirit as vibrant as her favorite color- cobalt blue.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Anne and Mike Bajza, whose love and influence shaped the foundation of the woman she became.
Life & Love
Susie married the love of her life, Robert Spurlock, and together they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage-a testament to their deep partnership, shared humor, and unwavering devotion.
She was the proud mother of Robert "Bobby" (Nicole) and Mike (Carmela), and the adoring grandmother of Olin, Mae, Carter, and Mia. Her family was her world, and she poured her entire heart into them-showing up with warmth, wit, and a steadfastness that made everyone feel safe and deeply loved.
Family & Roots
In her final days, Susie was held close by her family:
• Sister Paula Baim
• Nephew Eric (Christine) Baim
• Niece April (Jason) Gast
• Great-nephews Andrew Baim and Vincent Gast
• Great-nieces Callista Baim and Alice Gast
Their presence reflected the lifelong bonds Susie nurtured-relationships strengthened by her generosity, humor, and the sharp, thoughtful mind that made her both a confidante and a guiding force.
A Heart for Animals
Susie's love extended beyond people. She cherished every creature that crossed her path-from the current family dog Abby, her soul dog, to the beloved pups who came before her (Ink, Indy, Snickers, and Percy), to the family turtle Davey, the occasional visiting painter turtle, and all the barn cats who always knew they'd find kindness at her door.
Animals trusted her. They sensed her gentle soul.
Creativity, Humor, and the Color Blue
Susie was an artist in every sense-whether she was painting, tending to her plants, or bringing beauty into everyday life. She loved the color blue, perhaps because it mirrored her own qualities: calming, deep, and quietly radiant.
She had a sharp mind, a kind heart, and a wicked sense of humor that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing long after. She was beautiful-inside and out-even if she never quite believed it herself.
Most of all, she was the best wife, mom and grandma, the kind who showed up, listened, protected, and loved with her whole being.
Legacy & Wishes
Susie leaves behind a legacy of devotion, creativity, and compassion. Her stubbornness was a strength; her loyalty, a gift; her passion, a force that shaped her family's lives in ways they will carry forever.
Susie and Bob moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2023, and in keeping with her wishes, Susie will be cremated.
