Susan Kelly Wiedemann, 76, passed peacefully on February 23, 2026, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, just days before her 77th birthday. She was born on February 28, 1949, in Chicago to John George and Marian Kelly.
Susan spent much of her life in Chicago before later moving to Oklahoma when her beloved husband, Jim, was transferred for his work with Texaco. Jim preceded her in death, but their love story and shared adventures remained one of the greatest joys of her life.
She was a devoted and proud mother to Robert Wiedemann and his wife Christin, MaryBeth Rosell and her husband Eric, Thomas Kapla, Robert Kapla, and Donald Kapla and his wife, Kristi. Her greatest treasures were her grandchildren - Holly, Thomas, Trey, and Payton - and her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kenleigh, Isabella, Ava, Alexander, Sydney, and Zylah Campbell, who brought endless light to her later years.
Susan is preceded in death by her brother Kel, but also survived by her siblings: Bob, Marian, Katie, and Patrick, along with many extended family members and friends.
A true Chicagoan at heart, Susan loved hockey and followed sports and politics with equal passion - often saying that politics was her favorite sport. She was an avid Texaco collector, a nod to the company that played such a meaningful role in her family's life. Known for her quick wit, she was completely fluent in sarcasm and never missed the opportunity for a clever remark.
Above all, Susan was a loving wife, a strong and steady mother, and a woman who lived with humor, loyalty, and heart.
Services will be held at a later time. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
