Susan "Susie" Kathleen Paulson (Zingg), 84, a longtime Tulsa resident, devoted advocate and homemaker, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 18, 2026, at Schaudt Tulsa Funeral Service & Cremation Care Center, in the chapel located at 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on June 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Susie was born on October 9, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, to Warren and Lois (Gorham) Zingg. During her elementary school years, her family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she would spend most of her life. She graduated from Central High School in 1959 and continued her education at Southern Illinois University and the University of Tulsa. While attending the University of Tulsa, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
Gifted with perfect pitch, Susie had a lifelong love of music and singing. As a soprano, she participated in numerous musical groups and studied voice under Mrs. Anderson, developing a talent that brought joy to those around her.
Susie was first married to Paul Masters, and together they welcomed a son, Paul Masters II. She later married the love of her life, Paul Gunder Paulson, on August 14, 1970, in Tulsa. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Julie Marie. Susie and Paul shared 44 wonderful years of marriage before his passing December 31, 2014.
She is survived by her son, Paul Masters II; her daughter, Julie Marie Paulson; her daughter-in-law, Cristina (Lillian) Masters; and her granddaughter, Madison Masters. She is also survived by her brother, William Zingg of Tulsa; three nieces, her sister, Nina (Zingg) Cotham of Kansas; one niece and one nephew.
Susie enjoyed collecting antiques and operated an antique booth at 51st and Lewis, where she shared her passion for collectibles with others. She was also a familiar presence at the Saturday flea market. Alongside her husband, who was of Cherokee and Choctaw heritage, she enjoyed attending many of Tulsa's Pow Wows and cultural gatherings.
Susie will be remembered for her kindness, love of family, advocacy, appreciation for music and history, and the warmth she brought to those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospice, Adults and Children with Learning and Disabilities (ACLD) organization, Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Cancer Society.
