Steven Michael Chavez

May 29, 1987 — June 11, 2023

Steven Michael Chavez, 36, of Tulsa, OK passed away at home on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Born in La Junta, CO on May 29, 1987, to John Chavez and Glenda Diane (Beech) Chavez, Steven grew up as an only child. Steven's family traveled quite a bit when he was young due to the nature of his father's work. In 1994, Steven and his parents relocated to Tulsa, OK from Dodge City, KS.

Growing up in Tulsa, Steven was an extroverted child and teenager. In high school, he ran both cross country and track and field. He even went as far as to set records in the 3200-meter relay races. Steven graduated from Memorial High School in 2006. Upon graduating high school, Steven secured employment with many companies, including Viking Packing and Port Metals, before he settled into his role as a Forklift Operator for a local construction company in Tulsa.

Steven met his loving wife, Sharon in high school. However, the two began dating in 2009. The rest was history. Steven and Sharon married on September 26, 2014. To this union, they had one son, John, who was born on July 20, 2016. Sharon had a daughter, Rebecca, from a previous relationship, who was born on June 14, 2007. Steven was incredibly family oriented and fully took on his role of "Dad" with love. Being a dad to Rebecca and John was truly one of Steven's greatest joys in life. He was immensely proud of his little family and willing to go above and beyond for them in any way he could.

Steven was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and friend. He was incredibly generous and always willing to help anyone in need. While Steven was a homebody at times, he still loved traveling to Colorado to spend time with his family, relaxing in nature, and taking in all that life has to offer. Moreover, Steven loved the Denver Broncos, fishing with his Grandpa Doug, playing guitar, as well as quoting any movie he could out of the blue, just to make his family and friends laugh a little. He also loved music of all kinds, especially the Red-Hot Chili Peppers.

Furthermore, Steven was funny, goofy, charming, and simply loved being the center of attention, especially in any conversation he could get himself into. He was an animal lover through and through. His family remembers him always having some sort of pet, cats, dogs, - you name it. Steven had a passion for life and for loving people, and because of this, he leaves behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. He will be forever missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, John Chavez, his grandmother, Betty Romero, and grandfather, Doug Beech. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Sharon (King) Chavez, son, John Chavez, stepdaughter, Rebecca Reither, mother, Glenda Diane (Beech) Chavez, grandmother, Karen Case and grandfather, Randy Case, aunts, Eleanor Herrera, Irene Sisneros, and Shelly Beech, uncles, Don Sisneros, Ron Sisneros, Chris Beech, and Matt Beech.

A memorial service to honor Steven's life will be held at 2:00 PM on June 23, 2023 at Schaudt Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK 74145, with Samuel Herrera officiating.
