Steven Jay Brown

October 13, 1954 — March 8, 2026

Steven Jay Brown, 71, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him deeply. Born and raised in Tulsa on October 13, 1954, Steve was the son of Ervin and Gloria (Sivers) Brown, and from the very beginning he lived life with curiosity, humor, and a bit of mischief.

Steve attended Rogers High School in Tulsa and later graduated from Oklahoma State University, where he studied horticulture and landscape architecture. He had a true gift for growing things-if it was green, blooming, or buzzing with bees, Steve could make it thrive. Gardening and beekeeping were passions of his, and his yard was often a reflection of both his patience and his creativity.

Steve built a career as a financial planner, but he was never the kind of man who fit neatly into just one box. He was a golfer, a skier on family vacations, and someone who could fix just about anything-or, if he couldn't, he "knew a guy." He loved antiques, garage sales, and forgotten treasures-anything old that deserved a second life. To his kids' dismay, he could never pass by a garage sale without stopping.

Steve had a lot of stories. He was a born storyteller-funny, quick-witted, and able to hold a room's attention without even trying. Friends could count on him for laughter, honest conversation, and the occasional outrageous tale. He made friends easily and kept them for life.

Steve was also famous in his family for being a little ornery. His sister endured years of playful teasing. Mischievous, creative, and fiercely independent, he lived life on his own terms and encouraged others to do the same.

More than anything, Steve loved being a father and grandfather. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world, and he took great joy in watching them grow, laugh, and find their own adventures in life.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Brown, Chelsea Eland (Greg), and Taylor Brown; his grandchildren, Judah Eland, Jane Eland, Caleb Eland, and Joseph Eland; his sisters, Becky Willsey and Patricia "P.J." Jett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Steve Brown was smart, talented, endlessly interesting, and undeniably cool. The kind of man who could fix anything, grow anything, and make anyone laugh. His stories will be told for years to come-and he will be remembered forever.
