Spencer "Tinker" Lawerence Gordon, age 91, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Spencer was born on February 21, 1934, in Hampton, Arkansas, to Spencer and Minnie Gordon. From a young age, Spencer showed a deep love for golf, picking up the game at just 7 years old-a passion that would shape the course of his life. He went on to become a professional golfer, known not only for his skill but also for his generous spirit and love for teaching. Remarkably, he was still giving golf lessons as recently as a month ago.
A proud veteran, Spencer served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he pursued a degree in finance from the University of Arkansas and carried his strong work ethic and sharp mind into every aspect of his life.
Spencer had a gift for conversation and never met a stranger-especially if the topic was golf. He made countless friendships throughout his life, crossing paths with many well-known figures, but it was his humble and kind nature that truly left a lasting impression.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Minnie Gordon, and his beloved daughter Michelle Ellis.
Spencer is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife, Judith "Judy" Gordon; his son, Jerry Gordon, and daughter-in-law Karol Gordon; daughter, Cindy Baldwin; grandsons Zachary Gordon and his wife Diane Gordon, Benjamin Gordon, Tony Reynolds, Ian Ellis, and Nick Ellis; and six cherished great-grandchildren. His family describes him as a caring, kind soul-thoughtful, considerate, and always ensuring Judy was cared for.
Spencer's life was a beautiful example of devotion-to family, to friends, and to the game he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him
