Mar 17, 1936 — Jul 13, 2026

Enus  ' Sonny ' Wilson, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 90.

Born on March 17, 1936, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Enus Wilson and Pearl Rhoades Wilson. Enus was a Native American member of the Muskogee Creek Tribe. He grew up on a cattle farm in Bald Hill, Oklahoma.

Sonny followed in his father's footsteps as a prominent figure in Oklahoma but chose a very public path in motor sports. He became a highly successful Native American amateur sports car racer in the late 1958-1979 era, famously owning and racing exotics like a purple Maserati 300s Tipo 61 "Birdcage", and an ISO Grifo A3C at major events like the 12 hours of Sebring.

Enus was a proud lifelong Oklahoman. He was known to all as Sonny! He attended Okmulgee High School and later Oklahoma State University. A hardworking rancher and talented race car driver, he was also the general manager of the Muskogee Creek Nation gaming commission!

Enus lived life with determination, adventure, and a passion for the things he loved.

Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Enus never met a stranger. His warm personality and genuine kindness made him someone who was liked by everyone fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, and a life truly well lived.

He is survived by his children, Shelley and her husband, Philip, and Monte Wilson.
