Sharon Kay Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2025, at the age of 80 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sharon was born on December 4, 1944, in Mineral Springs, Missouri, to Ralph and Gladys Loftin. On June 24, 1967, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Smith, beginning a beautiful 58-year journey together. The two first met in Kiest Park in Dallas, Texas, and from that moment on, their love story unfolded-building a home, raising a family, and sharing countless adventures. They began their married life in Dallas before moving to Poteau, Oklahoma, where Sharon became a cherished member of the community, joining the Xi Beta Pi sorority and even being crowned Valentine Queen. She gave her time and heart to helping others, including supporting the women's shelter. Eventually, the family settled in the Tulsa area, where their roots grew deep.
In 1997, Sharon, Jimmy, and their son Jason opened The Hot Rod Garage in Sand Springs. Sharon ran the office with a steady hand and a warm heart, all while tolerating (and secretly enjoying) the many car activities Jimmy roped her into. She loved the travels, the shows, and the people she met along the way-it was one of her favorite parts of life.
Before the family business, Sharon worked as a hair stylist and later found her niche in wig styling, using her creativity to help others feel beautiful and confident.
Above all, Sharon was a devoted wife and mother who never missed a moment to be there for her children and grandchildren. She was loving, caring, and truly the life of the party-her laughter and energy filled every room she entered. She had a competitive streak when it came to games like dominoes, spoons, Uno, and chicken foot, and her joy in winning was only matched by her joy in playing. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was active in her church and its many activities. At home, she treasured her time with her poodle, Copper, who was never far from her side.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack, Bud, and Max Loftin; sisters June Branch and Jody Houston.
She is survived by her devoted husband Jimmy Smith; son Jason Smith and his wife Shelly; daughter Holli Nicholson and her husband Zack; grandchildren Amber Moran and husband Kline, Ashley Smith, Maycee Nicholson, Mick Nicholson, Jake Nicholson, Ella Nicholson, and Jaspar Nicholson; sisters Janice and Jane and husband Walter; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sharon's warmth, humor, and generous spirit touched countless lives, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Woods - Fleming Hall, 4134 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. All who knew and loved Sharon are invited to join in honoring her memory.
