Rusty Gene Hollis, age 51, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on April 6, 2022, at home with his family by his side.
He was born on June 5, 1970, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Donald Gene and Marlyne Joy Hollis. He eventually graduated from Newman Smith High School, in Carrolton, Texas. It could be said his first love was Texas, as he continued to cheer on his teams, the Rangers, the Cowboys, and the Longhorns (hook 'em!). But the love his life was found in Amanda Roach, whom he married on October 13th, 2007.
Rusty worked for several different companies such as Eicon, Quest Communications, and Cricket Communications, doing IT work. He continued to play sports his whole life, often being found in a bowling alley or out on the links, getting a game of golf in. He loved to spend his time with his family and friends, which he loved deeply and fiercely. Being a child at heart he usually gravitated towards the kids and could be found having fun with them at almost every gathering. He enjoyed his time outdoors and had a love and respect for all living things.
Above all Rusty had a passion for the Lord and serving at Life.Church South Tulsa. He loved serving the youth of all ages but shined as a Loop leader and a Switch leader. He was the best host and would welcome everyone with a greeting and smile that would light up the whole room and was only second to his personality in terms of size. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to make anyone feel at home. Everyone that knew him knew he had a servant's heart and truly cared.
He is preceded in death by his sister Renee Kilpatrick.
Survivors include his wife Amanda Hollis; parents, Don and Marla Hollis; sister, Robin Hollis; son, Ryan Hollis and wife Brianna Hollis; daughter, Karley Kolb and husband Chris Kolb; two grandchildren, Miles Hollis and Rylee Kolb, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 4:00 PM, on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Life.Church, South Tulsa.
