Ruby Weidmann

Ruby Elaine Weidmann, lovingly known as Elaine, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Born on July 15, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, to Horace and Gloria Simmons, Elaine lived a life filled with grace, compassion, and an unshakable love for others.

Elaine was the sweetest soul you could ever meet - the true definition of love. Her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a natural ability to make people feel cared for and valued, and her gentle presence made the world a better place.

Gifted in countless ways, Elaine was no ordinary person. She was musically talented, crowned Miss Alabama, and devoted her professional life to caring for others as both a nurse and later an anesthesiologist. Her medical career was a reflection of her giving nature - she always sought to heal, comfort, and serve those in need.

Fate brought Elaine together with the love of her life, Rick Weidmann, one Friday afternoon in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rick was hosting a seminar in Healthcare Administration, and Elaine, having read about it at the airport, decided to attend. When Rick first saw her, he knew it was an attraction at first sight. After asking her if she was there with her husband - to which she replied, "No, I do not have a husband" - he wasted no time asking her on a date.

Elaine accepted, and Rick made sure their first evening was unforgettable, taking her to Sandia Peak for dinner on a mountaintop. After dinner, they took a walk together along the peak. It was a little cool outside, and ever the gentleman, Rick offered Elaine his jacket to keep her warm. As they strolled atop Sandia Peak, the city lights sparkled below them. Rick remarked that the lights looked like jewels scattered across the landscape - a fitting image, as Elaine was, in his eyes, the rarest and most precious jewel of all. That evening, their date deepened into something far more profound. From that day on, they were inseparable.

The couple married in 1995 and shared a lifetime of laughter, devotion, and adventure.

Elaine was also a loving mother to Brian Simmons and a proud stepmother to Stacy M. Weidmann and Ricky Weidmann. She instilled in Brian the values of kindness, humility, and generosity - lessons he carries with him always. Her love extended to all living creatures; she had a soft spot for animals and never hesitated to take in strays who needed a home.

Elaine's life was one of beauty, compassion, and love. She was a shining example of how to live fully and give freely. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and in the countless lives she touched.

Elaine is survived by her devoted husband, Rick Weidmann; her son, Brian Simmons; her stepdaughter, Stacy M. Weidmann; her stepson, Ricy Weidmann, her niece, Gina Wedlake; and her sister, Kelly Duvall.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Horace and Gloria Simmons, and Judy Hammonds.

Elaine will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, grace, and boundless heart.
