Roy Wegner

Roy Charles Wegner, 87, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, stepped peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on December 9, 2025. Born on May 21, 1938, in Allenton, Michigan, to Carl and Doris (Edgerton) Wegner, Roy lived a life defined by service, faith, and an unwavering commitment to loving others.

From his earliest years on the family dairy farm, Roy learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and helping wherever help was needed. Even after breaking his back as a young man-an injury that would have slowed most-Roy refused to be limited. He simply chose to keep going, to keep serving, and to keep loving, never allowing hardship to define who he was.

Roy's life was anchored in his deep Christian faith. His time at Rhema Bible College further ignited his passion for ministry, a calling he lived out boldly alongside his beloved wife of 61 years, Phyllis (Grosser) Wegner. Together, they traveled the world on mission trips, going where few were willing to go-Russia, China, Albania, and beyond. Roy bravely smuggled Bibles into countries where God's Word was forbidden, a quiet yet powerful testimony of his courage and devotion. He also helped build orphanages in the Philippines, offering hope to children across the globe.

A carpenter by trade and a master craftsman by gifting, Roy built homes-quite literally-from the ground up with his own hands. Yet his talents did not end at the workbench. Music lived in him. He sang with joy, played the harmonica with soul, and lifted the trumpet with praise.

Above all, Roy cherished his life with Phyllis, the love of his life. For 61 years they lived as one-best friends, partners, and an example of a Christ-centered marriage. Their only debate, year after year, was who kissed who first. They finally settled on the truth: they simply ran into each other, and that was their beginning.

Together, they raised four children-Ron, Juli, Elaine, and Lori-on the same firm foundation of faith that shaped their own lives. Roy passed on to them his love for nature, long walks in the woods, and a passion for deer hunting. He delighted in family meals, often featuring his famous homemade bread and desserts, recipes loved by all who tasted them.

Roy touched countless lives around the world, and every person seemed to echo the same sentiment: "He only had kind words for everyone." Roy lived by the belief that "People are forever," and he treated each soul as precious.

Roy is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis Wegner; his son, Ron Wegner and wife Makayla, his daughter Juli Wegner, his step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Tera and Talon Cook, his daughter Elaine Wegner, his daughter Lori (Wegner) Murphy and husband David; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Murphy, his siblings Glenn Wegner, Loren Wegner, and Eileen Moore.He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Doris Wegner; his brother, Carl Wegner; and his sister, Carol Wegner-Crain.

Roy Charles Wegner leaves behind a legacy of faith, courage, craftsmanship, kindness, and love-a life lived for God and for others. His light will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched.
