Ronald Wayne McClure passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 5, 2025. His final rest was quiet, just as he had lived-with steadiness, warmth, and a heart full of love. He now rests in joyful reunion with his beloved wife, Linda McClure, who preceded him in death in 2020.
Married in 1968, Ronald and Linda shared more than fifty years side by side, building a life filled with deep devotion, laughter, and the quiet magic of everyday family moments. Together, they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Katherine, in a home where kindness echoed through every hallway and love was always the loudest sound.
Ronald had a gentle passion for classic cars and spent countless contented hours in his garage or workshop. It wasn't just a space for tools-it was a gathering place. Neighbors and children often stopped by, drawn in by the smell of engine oil, the gleam of chrome, and Ronald's welcoming smile. He was always ready to pause his work to share a story, answer a curious question, or simply enjoy the company.
A proud Navy veteran, Ronald served his country faithfully for 20 years. His journey took him from the harbors of Charleston to the halls of the National Navy Museum in Washington, D.C., where he brought history to life through his careful hands and craftsmanship. His love for the Navy ran deep, and he spoke of it often, with a storyteller's heart and a patriot's pride.
To those who knew him, Ronald was so much more than a craftsman or a veteran. He was gentle, loyal, endlessly generous, and had a twinkle in his eye that could make anyone feel at ease. He had a gift for making people laugh-not loudly, but in the quiet way that stays with you long after. His stories were rich with detail, humor, and heart, and his presence had a way of making even strangers feel like old friends.
He found joy in life's simple pleasures-fishing trips, motorcycle/go-kart races, and bottle rocket battles on warm July nights. He loved animals with a tender fierceness and extended that same compassion to every living thing around him.
Ronald leaves behind a family who adored him: his daughter Katherine McClure and her husband David Bunn; his daughter Jennifer Prince and her husband Roger Prince; his grandsons Eric Prince (wife Kathryn Wright Prince) and Ethan Prince; and his great-granddaughter Madilyn Prince. He also leaves behind a circle of dear friends and neighbors who will carry his memory close to their hearts.
Ronald was a loving husband, a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a true friend. His life was a quiet masterpiece-built from love, laughter, and everyday acts of care. Though his absence is deeply felt, his presence lives on in the stories we tell, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
