Rocky Austin

SP4 Rocky Lyn Austin, 56, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on August 21, 2025. He was born on January 15, 1969, and lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his passions.

Rocky proudly served in the United States Army from September 25, 1988, to August 23, 1991, with the 1st/12th Field Artillery, A Battery, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, as a Lance Missile Crewman. During his service, he earned the Driver/Mechanic Badge, M16 Sharpshooter Badge, HQ Duty Driver Badge, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and was honored as a Cold War Veteran. He also served during Operation Desert Shield staging.

Before his military service, Rocky was a standout athlete, playing varsity baseball as a catcher and varsity football as a punter at Mount Pleasant High School. He later went on to play baseball as a catcher at Texarkana College.

In his career, Rocky spent 25 years in the car business as a finance manager working at various dealerships around Tulsa. In 2018, Rocky went to work for A+ Roofing, where he dedicated himself with the same work ethic and strength he brought to every part of his life.

Rocky had many passions-he loved fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his beloved dogs, Jagger, Harley, and Max.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Ann Austin; his parents, Steve W. Austin and Dorothy Austin; his stepmother, Martha Austin; his siblings, Robyn Lyann Vorel and Theron Weldon Austin; his brother-in-law, Bryan Vorel; his sister-in-law, Ashley Austin; his nephews, Brayden Vorel and Coy Austin; his nieces, Tatum Austin and Tara Limbock; his father-in-law, John Edward Lucksted; and his mother-in-law, Ruth AnnRosborough. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Austin Edward Lucksted.

Rocky will be remembered for his loyalty, his adventurous spirit, and the love he had for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

A time of remembrance and gathering with a reception for Rocky will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK.

A committal service for Rocky will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Rd, Fort Gibson, OK 74434 to follow the reception starting at 3:30 PM.
