Rheta Faye Haddock, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, of Bixby, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 with her husband by her side. She was 78 years old.
Rheta was born on November 6, 1944, in Quitman, Mississippi, to her proud parents, Earl and Claudine (Windham) Lucas. In the small town where she came into this world, Rheta's journey began and lead her on a remarkable path filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
It was in that very town of Quitman, MS, where Rheta's life took a beautiful turn. She met her future husband, Kenneth, under the starry night sky at a local drive-in. Their connection was immediate, and love blossomed swiftly. In a testament to their unwavering love, they decided to embark on their lifelong journey together, marrying just three weeks later on July 2, 1965, in Quitman, MS. Their love story would be one for the ages.
Rheta was a proud graduate of Quitman High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with curiosity and an insatiable love for learning. She was a true bookworm, with an endless passion for reading that would carry her through the years.
As a mother, Rheta's love knew no bounds. She poured her heart and soul into raising her son, creating a warm and loving home that was filled with laughter and joy. Her family was the center of her world, and her family was blessed to have her as their guiding light.
In the kitchen, Rheta was an absolute magician. She had a particular affinity for cooking fried okra, a dish that became a family favorite. Her homemade bread was legendary and won a coveted blue ribbon at the state fair, a testament to her culinary prowess.
Rheta also had a green thumb and found solace in her garden, tending to her yard and plants with great care. Her love for nature and her ability to nurture life around her brought beauty and tranquility to her surroundings.
For over two decades, Rheta dedicated herself to her work as an office manager at Tulsa Grass and Sod Farms, where her strong work ethic and warm personality made her a beloved colleague and friend to many.
Rheta's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to family.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; their son Michael and his wife Wendy of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren Benjamin of Austin, TX, and Lucas, Kathryn, and Leah of Woodbridge, VA; and sister
Bettye Johnson of Quitman, MS. She was preceeded in death by her parents.
