Ray Philip Peterman, 62, of Tulsa, Okla., died in his home Sunday, March 17 after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1961 to Marlee Martin and Darrell Peterman. He left home at a young age to seek adventure, first joining a traveling carnival and then fighting forest fires on the west coast. He eventually "settled down" and started a family.
Ray loved to "watch" sports (even if his eyes were closed), binge Sci-Fi movies and read Louis L'Amour novels. In recent years, he could frequently be found playing pool and spending time with friends at their neighborhood hang out.
A craftsman and a builder he frequently smelled like sawdust and earned a living with his hands. He was an extremely hard worker who always provided for his family and his work ethic was passed on to his son and daughter.
Ray was preceded in death by several beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by his current wife Denise Chappell; his first wife and mother of his children, Tiffani Peterman; daughter Larisha Hunter; son Kros Peterman; his mother Marlee Martin; father Darrell Peterman; brothers Brian Peterman and Bradley Peterman; sisters Janice Faltersack, Christina Peterman, and Michelle Bates.
A celebration of life will be planned for close friends and family and announced at a later date.
