Phyllis June McCombs, age 87, passed on May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on December 17, 1938, in Edmond, Oklahoma to James Arthur Netherton and Zora Crosswhite Netherton.
Phyllis graduated from Deer Creek High School and went on to build a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and community. On June 1, 1957, she married the love of her life, Billy McCombs, at the Tee Pee Church in Deer Creek, Oklahoma. Together they shared a lifetime of memories, devotion, and love.
Phyllis was known for her warm heart and joyful spirit. She found her greatest happiness in her grandchildren, especially "the twins," and treasured every moment spent with family and friends. She enjoyed square dancing, crafting, sewing, reading, selling Avon, and being part of everyone's life. She also dearly loved her dogs, Little Bit and Scooby.
In 1954, Phyllis was honored as The Poultry Queen of Oklahoma County in 1954, a fitting recognition for someone whose love for chickens became a lifelong passion. From dishes and wallpaper to yard décor, chickens brought her delight and reflected her playful and creative personality.
Above all, Phyllis's life was embodied by her unwavering faith in God and her deep love for family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, faith, and cherished memories that will continue through generations.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, Billy McCombs; daughter, Christine Garcia and husband Tony; sons Brett McCombs, Brad McCombs, and Brandon McCombs and wife Brandy; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She also shared a special friendship with Maxine Dollar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Zora Netherton; sisters Irene Hoskins and Katie Murphy; and her twin sister, Patsy Alward.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
