Pamela Joy Thurmond

November 28, 1948 — May 7, 2026

Pamela Joy Thurmond, age 77, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, faith, and unwavering love for others. She was truly one of the most selfless people anyone could know — the perfect example of a devoted friend, loving family member, and compassionate soul.

Pam was born November 28, 1948 in Andrews, Texas. She shared a special bond with her twin brother LeRoy (she called Bub), who we lovingly joked that he couldn’t get a word in otherwise. Their connection was one filled with laughter, love, and memories that will be cherished forever

As a teacher, she touched countless lives over the years, leaving lasting impressions on students, coworkers, friends, and families alike. She taught 4th grade science in Texas and was loved by so many for the curiosity and fun she instilled in them. Her compassion, encouragement, and dedication shaped so many hearts and futures.

With her witty and playful personality, she made friends everywhere she went. She had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and deeply cared for. Her laughter was contagious, her spirit unforgettable, and her love for others endless. Those who knew her will remember the JOY she brought into every room and the way she always put others before herself.

Pam loved fiercely, prayed diligently, and maintained a hopeful outlook on life until the very end. Her faith carried her through every challenge with grace and strength. She was the strongest woman many of us will ever know.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, we find comfort knowing she is finally home with the Lord, reunited with her husband Jim, son Paul and her Mom and Dad.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will remain with all who knew her forever. She was the bright light in all our lives. She was OUR joy.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Virginia Denny, her husband James Thurmond, her son Paul Thurmond and grandson Gage Thomas Thurmond.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Jenny Knocke (Nick) of Jenks, Oklahoma, Angela Jackson (Brian) of Omaha, Nebraska, her brother LeRoy Denny and his wife Sheree of Iredell, Texas, two nephews, Bryan Thurmond, Brent Denny, one niece, Lisa Wester, her loving grandchildren: Brayden, Stone, Davis, Saige, Stark and Slade, and one great-granddaughter Leighton, along with other family members and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service & Cremation Care Centers, 1329 East 151st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033. Family and friends may leave kind words of comfort, special memories and condolences to the family online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com
