The Homegoing of an Immaculate Mother
Norma Genovis Akkerman, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully on May 5, 2025, surrounded by love and covered in grace.
Born on June 3, 1952, in Surigao del Sur, Philippines, Norma lived a life marked by deep faith, strength, and compassion. She always said her first and only love is Jesus Christ. She was known for her excellent cooking, warmth, wisdom, and the way she made everyone feel seen, accepted, and loved.
She is survived by her husband, Marcus Akkerman; her only son, Donald Brancato; her first husband, Nicholas Brancato; and her adopted daughters, Vangie Ferrand, Jennifer Johnson, M J Cox, and Jenny Joy Ramnath. She is also remembered by her sisters Medarda, Lucita, Erlinda, Gloria, Delia, Ripsejane, Mary Ann, Nestor Jr. & Annabell Genovis, and her nieces Maricel, Mariefe, Marites, and Nicole Mashburn, as well as a wide circle of friends and community who cherished her deeply.
Norma's life was a gift. Her legacy of love, prayer, and strength will live on in all who were touched by her presence.
