Nina Elizabeth
O'Shaughnessy
Sep 18, 1941 — Sep 5, 2026
Nina Elizabeth O'Shaughnessy passed away with loving family by her side on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the age of 84.
Nina was born at home on September 18, 1941, in Amber, Oklahoma, to Edmond Varner Sr. and Dora (Looney) Littlefield. She grew up as part of a large family alongside her six siblings.
Education and her professional career were important parts of Nina's life. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate, and continued her education at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, earning her master's degree. Nina went on to build a dedicated career in speech pathology. She did not have children of her own and devoted much of her life to her profession and to helping others through her work.
While Nina never had children, she shared an especially close relationship with her nieces and nephews. She loved and supported them as though they were her own, taking great interest in their lives and remaining a meaningful presence in their families throughout the years.
Nina was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Okmulgee, where she was involved for more than 30 years. She was also active in the local art community and appreciated the creativity and fellowship it brought into her life. Among the simple things she enjoyed, red roses held a special place in her heart.
Her compassion extended well beyond those she knew personally. Throughout her life, Nina generously supported animal welfare organizations around the world as well as efforts dedicated to cancer treatment and Parkinson's disease research. She also remained a loyal supporter of the University of Oklahoma, an institution that had played such an important role in her education and life.
Nina was preceded in death by her father, Edmond Varner Littlefield; her brother, Edmond Varner Littlefield Jr.; and her sister, Leann Yvonne Littlefield Gunderson, who passed away on August 15, 2026.
She leaves many loving memories with her mother, Dora Littlefield; her sisters, Jeanna Mary Littlefield Regier, Linda Jean Littlefield Rondinella, Edith Littlefield Sundby, and Ollie Juanita Littlefield Dickey; her many beloved nieces and nephews; along with many other loving relatives, friends, colleagues, and those whose lives she touched throughout her career and community.
A graveside service honoring Nina's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Fletcher Cemetery.
"Amazing Grace," performed by the Oklahoma Fire Pipes and Drums Association in Lawton/Fort Sill, has been selected as part of the music honoring Nina.
Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service & Cremation Care Centers, 1329 East 151st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033.
