Neva Azinger

October 6, 1940 — January 7, 2026

Neva Arlene Azinger passed from this earth January 7th 2026 at the age of 85. She was a gentle, steady presence to all who knew her. Born in Clayton, Illinois October 6th, 1940, and raised in Burnside, Illinois, Neva carried her small-town roots with pride and lived her life grounded in faith, love, and dedication to family.

In her younger years, Neva enjoyed bowling and carried that same competitive spirit into her lifelong devotion as a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a devoted member of the Keokuk, Iowa - Church of Christ, where her quiet strength and servant's heart were evident to all.

On July 2, 1962, Neva married the love of her life, Albert Azinger, in the beautiful Bridal Caves in Thunder Mountain Park in Camden, Missouri. Their marriage was one of deep love, loyalty, and partnership, lasting 28 wonderful years until Albert's passing. Though life brought loss, her love for him never faded.

Neva worked as an insurance agent for Shelter Insurance Company, a career that reflected her strong work ethic, reliability, and care for others. No matter how busy life became, her family always came first. She lived in Kahoka Mo. for close to the entirety of her life, only moving to Oklahoma in December of 2020 at the point of the death of her son. She lived with her daughter until moving into the Glenwood Health Center in 2021. This is where she has lived for the past 5 years.

To her grandchildren, Neva was pure love. She sang "You Are My Sunshine" to them, not just as a song, but as a promise. She taught them how to write letters and mail them-believing that words, handwritten and heartfelt, mattered. She showed up to everything: games, events, practices, and milestones, never missing a chance to support and encourage. She especially loved watching her granddaughter play basketball, cheering with pride every step of the way.

Neva was deeply family-oriented, hardworking, faithful, and endlessly loving. She gave selflessly, loved fiercely, and left an imprint on every heart she touched.

She is survived by her daughters, Arlyn "Lynn" Hubbs and husband Doug of Mannford, Oklahoma, and Paula Azinger and grandson Jeremy Azinger and family, her grandchildren Kaitlynn Woodbury, husband Dalton and family, Cassidy Blevins, husband Michael and family, Kristen Hubbs, fiancé Tyson Hennip and family; her nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Albert Azinger; her son Matthew Azinger; her parents, James and Pauline Houghton; her sisters, Emma Jean Brewer and Rose Harmon; and her brother, Thomas Houghton.

Neva's life was a beautiful example of faith in action, love without limits, and family above all else. Her legacy will live on in the stories told, the songs remembered, the letters written, and the love she poured into generations.

There will be a Celebration of her life in the future in Kahoka Mo., where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
