Nelda Sue Brown

Nelda Sue (Pennington) Brown, 91, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026. She was born November 23, 1934, in Salina, Oklahoma, to Walter Cleveland and Allie Mae Kelley Pennington.

Nelda was a kind and loving woman who found great joy in her family, her faith, and her friendships. She was a longtime and active member of First Presbyterian Church Downtown Tulsa, where she served as a deacon, participated in Helping Hands, and sang in the choir. Her church family was an important part of her life and brought her great happiness. Nelda held her family close and loved being a grandmother. Upon the birth of her first grandchild, “NeeNee” was chosen for her grandma name which was then used affectionately by others in her family.

After retiring, Nelda became a Mary Kay consultant, a role she truly loved and continued for many years. She also enjoyed playing bridge and Bunco and cherished her Friday dinners with her “girls,” who became some of her dearest friends.

Nelda will be remembered for her sweet spirit, generous heart, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family and friends to treasure.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Nivens (Greg); grandchildren, Kaley Pate, Alex Nivens (Samantha), and Brett Nivens; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Pate, Kennedy Pate, and Sophia Nivens. She was preceded in death by her children, James Douglas Brown and Rebecca Lee Brown.
