Michael Allen Burkhart

February 24, 1958 — October 27, 2025

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Allen Burkhart, 67, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, who left this world peacefully on October 27, 2025.

Michael was born on February 24, 1958, in Cloverdale, Ohio, to Clarence and Alma Burkhart. He grew up in Ohio, where he graduated high school and proudly cheered for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes—a passion that followed him his entire life. For Mike, football Saturdays weren’t just a game; they were a sacred tradition.

After moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for work, Michael built a successful career and a beautiful life there. He retired in 2017, but “retirement” for Mike never really meant slowing down. He was a traveler, a cruiser, and a thrill-seeker at heart—an adrenaline junkie who skydived (twice!) even after heart issues, always grinning as he signed the waiver. He visited 46 states and was determined to make it to all 50.

Mike had a zest for life that was contagious. He loved NASCAR, golf, live music, and good conversation. He could talk to anyone about anything—and usually did. His sense of humor and quick wit made him the life of every gathering.

He was meticulous, a perfectionist with a tool in his hand and a plan in his mind. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, build, or improve. But above all, he was a man who cared deeply for others. He gave selflessly, helped anyone in need, and always went the extra mile to make life easier for someone else.

Michael adored his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Yeiny Burkhart; his children Jennifer Sonnenberg (Chris) and Daniel Burkhart; his stepchildren Monica Ramirez (Hector), Marcela Truitt (Matt), and Carlos Acero (Caressa Lee); and his siblings Donna Burgei, Kenny Burkhart (Ruth), and Larry Burkhart (Ann).

He was a proud grandfather to Cayden Sonnenberg, Kiley Sonnenberg, Madison Knight, Nevaeh Sonnenberg, Kaeden Sonnenberg, Nicholas Bernal, Mila Ramirez, Mathias Ramirez, Valerie Carvajal, Angelica Acero, and Aiden Acero—each of whom he spoiled with candy, laughter, and love.

Mike’s love language was laughter and generosity. He never met a stranger, never missed a chance to tell a joke, and never turned down dessert. Michael Allen Burkhart was truly one of the good ones: loyal, funny, daring, and full of heart. He lived boldly, loved deeply, and left this world better than he found it. His legacy will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he left behind.
