Micky Lee Smith died a peaceful death with family near on January 20, 2018. Micky was born July 4th, 1947 in Ransom, Kansas to Kenneth Gerald and Dorothy Mae (Bland) Smith of Gove, Kansas. He was given the title big brother August 25, 1953 when his brother Brad joined the family. Micky attended schools in Gove and studied to become an apprentice electrician. On January 12, 1968 he and his sweetheart Glenette VanEaton were married in Oakley, Kansas. They recently celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. Micky was an electrician and retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Over the years Micky and Glenette lived in Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. They welcomed a son Stacy in 1968, a son Scott in 1971, a daughter Starla in 1975, and a daughter Stephanie in 1980.

Micky was an avid Nascar racing fan and completed the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Kansas Speedway, of which he was very proud. He and Glenette traveled to many races and events to see the racing legend Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Micky enjoyed country music greats and enjoyed seeing Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson in concert. In earlier, healthier years Micky enjoyed barbecue grilling for the family, boating around on Grand Lake, spending time with family, attending grandchildren’s sporting events and enjoyed celebrating their birthdays together. His favorite trip included time spent in an Irish pub with Glenette as they traveled to visit their son Scott in Europe.

Micky is survived by his wife, Glenette of the home, their 4 children and families-Stacy and his wife Rachael of Baldwin City, Kansas; Scott of Swansea, Wales, Starla and her husband Joe Landers Jr. of Ashland, Missouri, and Stephanie and her husband Mark Milstead of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. 13 grandchildren, including a grandson in law, 3 great-grandsons, all who affectionately called him “Pop”, his brother Brad Smith and his wife, Cindy, their daughters Ashley and Jaci, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special Aunt Wilda Smith.

Micky was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Dorothy, a special Aunt Louise and Uncle Gene.

The family is grateful for condolences, but declines flowers and donations. Cremation has taken place in Oklahoma and there will be a private family memorial at a later time.
