Michael Fredrick Besmer

August 19, 1972 — February 22, 2026

Michael Fredrick Besmer passed away with his brother, Steve, by his side on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Glenpool, OK, at the age of 53.

Michael was born on August 19, 1972, in Mountain View, California, to Anthony and Patricia (Rourke) Besmer. He graduated from Jay High School in 1991 and later earned his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University in 1998.

Michael faithfully served as a teacher and coach for several years, touching countless young lives in SkiatookBartlesville, and Jenks, Oklahoma. Known especially for his time as a 5th grade teacher, he brought energy, encouragement, and heart into every classroom. His favorite subjects to teach were science and language arts.

In addition to his work in education, Michael served as a youth pastor in his early twenties in Arkansas and Missouri, investing deeply in the spiritual growth and guidance of young people. He regularly attended New Beginnings Church in Bixby, Oklahoma with his brother Steve where his personality and faith were evident to all who knew him. He also shared the Gospel of Jesus online to many people on his social media accounts.

Michael grew up in California and Arkansas with his 5 siblings and parents before moving to Oklahoma during his senior year of high school. His siblings will attest that he always kept his parents on their toes, bringing joy to others throughout his life.

Those who knew Michael will remember his big personality and even bigger heart. He found joy in the smallest things in life, even things most others would not notice. He never was a stranger to anyone he ever met. His main priority in life was to spread the Love of Jesus to everyone. His legacy and his heart would want his passing to point others closer to Jesus Christ.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Anthony Besmer, who passed away in August 2018; his brother, Jeff Miller, who passed away in March 2011; and several other beloved family members.

He leaves behind many cherished memories with his loving mother, Patricia Besmer; his siblings, Stephen Besmer and children Ethan and Hannah of Glenpool, Oklahoma; Mark Besmer, wife Crystal and son Brett of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Kelly Estrada (Miller), husband Grant and children Laura, Logan, and Luke; Mary Kathryn "Katie" Dent, husband David and children Isabel, Jefferson, Hazel, and Oliver of Watsonville, California; his son, Caleb Michael Besmer of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his daughter, Abigail Grace Besmer of Stillwater, Oklahoma; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his love and legacy.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." ‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭
