Melba Scheulen, beloved mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend, passed from this life on October 9, 2025, at the age of 70.
Born on April 13, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Melba grew up in her hometown and attended East Central High School. Known for her warmth, creativity, and strong family values, Melba lived a life rich in love, laughter, and lasting memories.
In her early working years, Melba was employed at Ramsey Winch, where she met the love of her life, Denny Scheulen. Their bond grew into a loving marriage that endured until Denny's passing. After leaving the workforce, Melba devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family as a homemaker-a role in which she truly shined.
A gifted and published poet, Melba found great joy in writing poetry and stories, expressing her heart and imagination through the written word. Her creativity was matched by her adventurous spirit. She cherished family road trips with her sons, recounting travels to Yellowstone National Park, Las Vegas, and Niagara Falls. Some of her fondest memories were made camping at Fort Gibson, a tradition she carried on with her loved ones.
Melba's life was filled with simple pleasures: long bicycle rides in her younger years, playing cards , and spending quality time with family. Her home was always a welcoming place filled with love and laughter. She had a special way of making those around her feel cared for and understood.
Melba is survived by her sons Jeremy Scheulen and his wife Chrissy, and Jason Scheulen; grandchildren Preston Scheulen, Parker Scheulen, and Bailey Scheulen; sister-in-law Debbie Hoppis; nephew Chris Hoppis; niece Julia Neuman; brothers-in-law Phillip Scheulen and Jackie Scheulen; sister-in-law Carolyn Turner; and a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her deeply.
"She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Denny Scheulen, brother Mitchell Hoppis, and parents Carroll and Lois Hoppis."
Melba's life was a testament to love, strength, and the enduring power of family. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the poems treasured, and the many lives she touched along the way.
