Masood Hozhabri Masood Hozhabri, 69, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 28, 2026, following a sudden stroke. He was in good health and living an active life, so his passing came as a profound shock to his family and the many people whose lives he touched.
Masood was born on May 31, 1957, in Shiraz, Iran. At the age of 18, he came to the United States in pursuit of education and opportunity, carrying with him a determination and work ethic that would define his life. He earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Tulsa, completing his Master of Science in Systems Engineering in 1984.
While at the University of Tulsa, Masood was a member of the university's first soccer team and became the first player in program history to be named Defender MVP. Soccer remained a lifelong passion, reflecting his competitive spirit, discipline, and love of teamwork. It was also during his years at TU, while pursuing his master's degree, that he met Terri, the love of his life.
Professionally, Masood built a successful career in transportation logistics, applying his systems engineering expertise to solve complex challenges and improve operations. He approached his work with intelligence, persistence, and integrity.
More important than any professional accomplishment, however, was his devotion to his family. Masood is survived by his beloved wife, Terri Jean Hozhabri; his daughter, Melissa Sixsmith, and her husband, Mason; his son, Daniel Hozhabri; his cherished granddaughter, Kylie Sixsmith, who lovingly knew him as "Pops"; and many close brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and steadfast friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ali and Hamdam Hozhabri.
Masood's greatest joy was spending time with his family. Whether playing ping pong, solving Wordle puzzles, playing online Poker and Monopoly with family members scattered across the country, or simply gathering around the table together, he treasured every opportunity to connect with those he loved.
He was known for his kindness, determination, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. He lived an active life and dedicated countless hours to serving others. His volunteer work included Project Elf, Meals on Wheels, the Afghan Refugee Project, Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS), the Salvation Army, and numerous ministries through Highland Park Christian Church. He quietly gave his time and talents to help those in need and believed deeply in serving his community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blackbox International, an organization dedicated to caring for boy survivors of human trafficking.
Masood leaves behind a legacy of love, service, faith, and family. His steady presence, generous heart, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
