Mary Sue Upton walked into the arms of Jesus on October 21, 2022 at 12:05 pm surrounded by her family. She joined her husband of 50 years, Charles W. Upton, in the presence of their Savior. She received a heavenly greeting from her parents, Homer and Emma Reid, multiple siblings, and her 3 precious babies that passed on prior to birth but were never forgotten.
Sue leaves behind children Charles Ray Upton, Bill and Debbie Upton, Joe and Regina Upton, Carl and Chris Upton, and Karen and Verne Kimberling. Her beloved grandchildren mourning the loss are Steven and Whitney Upton, Craig Upton, Michael Upton, Jennifer Upton, Daniel Upton, Courtney and Jimmy Gore, Kori Kimberling, and Kami Kimberling. Her youngest blessings were her great grand-children: Jaython Upton, Haven Upton, and Zane Upton.
If you ever met Sue, you most likely experienced one of her warm hugs and smiles. She truly loved people with the love of Christ. She fell in love with her Saviour at a young age and never let that love fade. When she looked at people, she saw them as God sees them. The world will miss her light shining for God even in the challenging times of her life.
Sue and Charles spent the majority of their lives in the Sapulpa area where they raised their five children. They worked tirelessly in their church and communities. After Sue retired they would visit home-bound church members to offer friendship and bible study time. Sue attended church faithfully until her stroke in December of 2016, then attended as often as her health would allow. She truly believed in the fellowship of believers and in encouraging one another on a regular basis.
Sue loved everyone she met, but she had a special love for children. She loved her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She also loved many other children as if they were her own; some examples include children she babysat, children in her church, friends of her children and grandchildren, and all her nieces and nephews. God gave her a special ability to calm a restless baby, comfort an upset teen, or counsel a grown child. She simply loved and cared for those around her.
Sue is now able to receive her heavenly rewards for all her diligent work on earth. I know she was a blessing to many and she deserves the heavenly riches now bestowed upon her. May all who read this be as prepared as she was at the time of death. Please, make sure you know Jesus as your Heavenly Savior today. If you need to talk to someone, please contact Kenny Myers at Allen Church in Sapulpa, he would be more than happy to explain how to have that assurance of eternity.
