Mary Pauline Carlock-Mitchell

Mary Pauline (Carlock) Mitchell beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:35 p.m. She will be greatly missed and is survived by her only daughter, Zirah Lynn Faircloth, son in-law, Alvin Faircloth, granddaughter, Marla Stubblefield, grandson in-law, Barrett Stubblefield, great grandson, Ethan Stubblefield; sister, Alverna Miller of Sulphur, Louisiana and brother in-law, Ernest Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Oliver Mitchell, mother, Janie Carlock, father, Joe Carlock, brother: Joe Carlock and two sisters: Vela Smith and Annie Carlock.
Mary Pauline was born in Leesville, Louisiana on February 27, 1918 and married Horace Mitchell on June 28, 1939. Their first and only child, Zirah Lynn was born on June 5, 1943. Mary and Horace were founding members of the Westwood Baptist Church in Westlake, Louisiana. She was best known for her love for Christ, family and her great Southern cookin'. She also had a passion for gardening and planting flowers. She had an exquisite ability to grow anything she laid her hands on.
Mary loved to be outside and would often recall the good times the family shared having €œfish fries€ at the lake and €œget togethers€ at her home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She lived most of her life in Louisiana; however, she moved to Oklahoma in 1993 to be closer to her daughter when her husband became ill.
Mary's favorite verse is Romans 10:13: €œFor whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.€
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Faith Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend Randy Shaddox. Interment will be Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 10:00 a. m. at Castor Cemetery, Leesville, Louisiana.
