Marslean Arnold

February 24, 1927 — May 8, 2006

On Monday, May 8, 2006, Marslean Arnold peacefully passed away at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, OK. A long time member of the Sapulpa Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, she was 79 years of age. In the course of these 79 years, she developed a reputation for being kind-hearted, self-sacrificing, and having an eye for only the good qualities in others. She had a keen appreciation for spiritual things and greatly valued this spiritual heritage, therefore setting an admirable example in the community.
She was born on February 24, 1927, in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Charles and Bertha Smith, grew up with three sisters and two brothers, and attended Oakdale School outside Okmulgee. On July 15, 1944, she married Virgle Lee Arnold in Okmulgee while he was on military leave from the US Army in preparation for service in Germany and France during World War II.
Marslean and Virgle raised their three children in Visalia, California, where they became Jehovah's Witnesses. The family permanently moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma, in October 1964 and she subsequently worked part-time at various jobs until €˜she moved on up' to her present employer - Wal-Mart of Sapulpa - and spent the next 26 years as a cashier. There she has always been affectionately known as €˜Marcy the Avon Lady.' Virgle said, €œIf Wal-Mart doesn't have it, you don't need it!€ Her Wal-Mart family has been very kind and loving through the years and considerate of the various illnesses she has experienced. Throughout her entire life, she remained very active which allowed her opportunities to enjoy the arts, travel internationally, and spend a great deal of time with her family.
Marslean was widowed from her beloved husband on September 1, 1985, also preceded in death by her son, Terry Lee Arnold. She is survived by her daughters, Lyn Nelson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Brenda Hadix and her husband Bill of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. A brother, Jimmy Dean Smith and his wife Geneva of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. A sister, Maxine Qualls and her husband Troy of Lampasas, Texas. Four grandchildren: a granddaughter, Tara LoBreglio and her husband Rob of Chepachet, Rhode Island. A grandson, Sam Arnold of Phoenix, Arizona. A grandson, Jonathan Nelson and his wife Tiffany of Scottsdale, Arizona. A granddaughter, Lyndsey Nelson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Four great-grandchildren: great-grandsons: Lucas and Cole LoBreglio of Chepachet, Rhode Island, and Abram Nelson of Scottsdale, Arizona. A great-granddaughter, Isabella Blackburn of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marslean is also survived by many relatives and countless friends and loved ones - all of which will remember her as a loving person, devoted mother and grandmother, and steadfast friend.
Memorial Service will be 5:00 p.m., Sunday May 14th, 2006 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1125 South Brenner Road in Sapulpa, OK. Cremains will be interred at South Heights Cemetery of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Memorial service will be officiated by Alvin R. Penn.
