Marlene Stansberry
Marlene Stansberry passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 85.
Marlene was born on June 12, 1941, in Billings, Montana, to Earl and Josephine (Westbrook) Matthews.
She met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Stansberry, and together they shared many wonderful years of marriage. Side by side, they owned and operated the Lake of the Cherokees Motel and Breakfast Club, welcoming countless guests with hospitality and kindness.
Marlene was also a licensed cosmetologist and had many talents that filled her life with creativity. She loved embroidering, crocheting, sewing, and playing the guitar. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying mystery novels, and treasured traveling with Bob throughout the years.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Having spent many years in the Catholic Church, Marlene also enjoyed attending non-denominational churches, always seeking to deepen her relationship with God. She had an extensive collection of nearly fifty different Bible translations along with countless religious books, reflecting her lifelong passion for studying Scripture.
Marlene was especially proud of her Crow Native American heritage. She loved collecting Native American books and items, embracing and honoring her ancestry throughout her life.
Above all else, Marlene loved her family. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with those she loved and created lasting memories that will continue to be treasured.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Stansberry, and by her parents, Earl Matthews and Josephine Westbrook.
Marlene is survived by her son, Brian; her daughters, Rebecca Jeffrey, and Kimberly Stoy and husband Bart; her grandchildren, Kristen and husband Kevin, Tommy and wife Angi, and Kaleb, her great-grandchildren, Kalissa, Krow, Kymberlee, Karson, Karoline, Kendrix, Cadence, Jameson, and Waverly; her brother, Tim Matthews and wife Diane; along with many other loving relatives and a host of dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A graveside service will be held at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta, Oklahoma with Pastor Brayden Buss officiating.
