Lockwood, Marjorie Lee, age 97, Broken Arrow, OK

Marjorie Lee Lockwood of Broken Arrow, age 97, went to sleep on Nov. 15, 2025 while waiting for Jesus' return.

Although she lived in Broken Arrow for the past couple of decades, she considered Edmond, OK, her home, where she built her life with her true love, Lloyd Lockwood. She and Lloyd were married for 52 years.

She was born in Winfield, KS, on December 4, 1927, daughter of Fred Sterling Ridings and Velma Ridings. Her mother, Velma, passed away at the age of 27 from tuberculosis. Fred later married Alma Davis, who graciously filled the role of mom for Marjorie. In high school, she was a cheerleader and lead drum majorette. After graduating, she attended Ottawa College and studied acting and drama. However, before finishing college, she married Lloyd on August 3, 1946, and moved to Tulsa.

They had two children (daughter Linda and son Kim) within the first four years of their marriage while living in Brookside. Their third child (son Sterling) was born in 1959. Marjorie spent her time as a caring mother and homemaker, while also being active in her children's school and sports activities.

In 1960, the family lived in Haywards Heath, Sussex, England, for nine months. While Lloyd worked, Marjorie planned outings for the weekends. The family returned to Tulsa, and a fourth child (daughter Montra) was born in 1966. The family moved to Edmond during the summer of 1967. While caring for the children, she became active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, poring over historical documents and putting together the ancestry of both sides of the family. Lloyd and Marjorie were also active members of Henderson Hills Baptist Church.

In 1996, Lloyd and Marjorie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in Oklahoma City. Lloyd had been diagnosed with cancer, and Marjorie spent much of her time caring for him through his treatments. In 1998, Lloyd fell asleep and went to be with his Savior. In later years, Marjorie lived at home in Broken Arrow with her daughter Linda and grandson Rick. She spent her time reading the Bible and listening to Dr. David Jeremiah, as well as reading his books.

In addition to all this, she was also an avid sports fan. Her favorite team was OU, and she spent numerous nights and weekends watching Sooners football, basketball, and women's softball. When Oklahoma City acquired an NBA team, she became a big fan of the OKC Thunder as well.

She spent her final days surrounded by the love of her family and waited for Jesus to come and cradle her up as she fell asleep.

She leaves behind- her oldest daughter, Linda Lee (Lockwood) Elrod of Broken Arrow; Linda's daughter Brooke and husband Randal Rusher of Bixby, OK; Linda's son Richard Bartley III of Broken Arrow; and Linda's daughter Brittany Haas and her son Thaxton of Tulsa, OK. Her oldest son, Kim Arlen Lockwood, and his wife, Kathy, of Edmond; their son Jeffrey Arlen Lockwood and his wife, Shannon, of Edmond; their daughter Katy Hunt and her husband, Chad, and their two children, Conor and Kalli, of Edmond; and Kim and Kathy's grandson Dallas Lockwood of Washington, OK, son of Brandon Douglas Lockwood (deceased). Her son Lloyd Sterling Lockwood and wife Cynthia of The Woodlands, TX; their daughter Megan Hunt and her husband, Daniel, of Little Rock, AR, and their daughter, Madeline; Sterling and Cynthia's son Nathan Lockwood and wife Sarah Catherine of Magnolia, TX. Her youngest daughter, Montra Elaine Lockwood, and husband Jeff Ray of Lake Charles, LA.

Services will be held on December 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond. While mourning her death, we will celebrate her life on her birthday.
