Marilyn Wagner

June 6, 1927 — October 28, 2025

Marilyn Helen Wagner, 98, passed peacefully into Jesus’s arms on October 28, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on June 6, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, to Harry and Helen Holquist. As matriarch of the Wagner family for these many years, hers was a life well lived. Marilyn married the love of her life, Phil Wagner, in 1950. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, adventure, and family until his passing in 1995.

After marrying, they moved to Wyoming, where they started a family and raised four children. They also trained black Labrador Retrievers, hunted, fished, and enjoyed the wide-open spaces and simple pleasures of the west. This was a big change for Marilyn who had grown up as a city girl. A devoted mother and grandmother, Marilyn is survived by her four children: Gail McBlaine (Mike), Carl Wagner III (Jan), Marilyn Kit Schaefer (Don), and Carol Egbert (Rick). She was the proud grandmother of Bryan (Erin), Kimberlyn, Kevin (Stephanie), Brett (Michelle), Kathleen (Graham), Chris (Kassidy), Jeff (Liz), Doug, Jason, Matthew, Sarah (Eli), Gabby, Libi, and Ashley, and the joyful great-grandmother of sixteen great-grandchildren (with # 17 due in April) who brought her endless pride and happiness.

After retirement, Marilyn and Phil settled at Grand Lake, where they enjoyed days spent on the water, playing golf, and gathering with family. The lake house became a cherished place for generations of laughter, boat rides, family gatherings, and great memories. Marilyn loved to travel and was blessed to see much of the world—her adventures took her to many places, but Wyoming always held a special place in her heart. An only child, Marilyn built her life around love, family, and experiences. Her sharp wit, strength, independence, and spirit of adventure leave a lasting legacy in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love and gratitude by her family and friends.
