Lorene Osie Kidwell

Lorene Osie Kidwell, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was filled with faith, love, laughter, and devotion to the people she held dear.

Lorene was born on August 4, 1932, in Daouthat, Oklahoma, to her parents, Jesse and Osie (Davis) Ussery. Throughout her life, Lorene carried her faith close to her heart, always trusting in the Lord and finding joy in her church and the blessings of her family. She was a sweet, loving, caring, and godly woman who touched the lives of so many through her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.

On January 14, 1951, Lorene married the love of her life, Mike Kidwell. Together, they built a life centered on family, creating countless treasured memories that would be cherished for generations. Lorene worked in finance and took great pride in caring for her home and family. She was known for keeping the cleanest house and always making sure those she loved were cared for. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she especially loved attending her children's school activities and spending precious time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. Caring for her great-grandbabies and great-great-grandbaby brought her so much happiness, and she treasured every moment spent watching her family grow.

Lorene enjoyed a wonderful variety of hobbies and activities throughout her life. She loved going to the lake, camping in her fifth wheel, and fishing, a pastime she could happily enjoy all day long. She also enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, working in her yard, and tending to her beautiful flowerbeds. Whether she was working outside, putting together a puzzle, or gathering everyone around the table for board games, Lorene found joy in life's simple pleasures.

One of her favorite pastimes was playing Monopoly with her family. She always insisted on being the banker, and although her family suspected she might have been bending the rules in her favor, they happily let her have her way. Those playful moments became treasured family memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. Lorene loved OU football. Later in life, she even became a fan of the Indiana Fever WNBA team, always finding something new to enjoy.

Above all, Lorene loved being surrounded by her family. She shared a particularly close bond with her siblings, and those relationships held a special place in her heart. Her love, faith, gentle spirit, and joyful personality made her a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a beautiful way of making people feel loved and welcome, and her presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her.

Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Kidwell; her parents, Jesse and Osie Ussery; her sisters, Jessie and Dorthy; her brother-in-law, Jim; her sister-in-law, Rose; her son-in-law, Willie; and her granddaughters, Traci and Jenny.

Those left to cherish Lorene's precious memory include her daughters, Sharon Roberts and Patricia Miller and her husband, Joe; her grandchildren, Justin, Wade, Kristy, and Becky; her 15 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; her loving brother, Leroy; along with many other cherished relatives and a host of dear friends.

Though Lorene's family will deeply feel the loss of her presence, the love she shared, the faith she lived by, and the memories she created will remain in their hearts forever. Her legacy lives on through the generations she loved so dearly and the countless lives she touched along the way. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to the Lord, her love of family, and the laughter she brought to every gathering. Lorene will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
