Lois Jean Akin, born on December 14, 1945, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, departed this world on October 10, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lois's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, dedication, and warmth, and her memory will forever grace our hearts.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Norma Kaiser, Lois's journey through life was marked by compassion, resilience, and love. Lois's love story began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she met the love of her life, Tom Akin. On April 27, 1968, they sealed their bond in marriage, embarking on a remarkable 55-year journey together.
Lois attended Rose State College achieving her national certification for dental hygiene. Lois was a standout in her field, earning the accolade of "IDEAL DENTAL HYGIENIST" as chosen by her classmates. She remained loyal to her patients in Midwest City, working in the same location with 2 different dental practices for 37 years, touching countless lives with her expertise and compassion and leaving an indelible mark in the dental community. Upon her retirement in 2014, Lois and Tom found their piece of paradise in Glenpool, Oklahoma, where they continued to create beautiful memories together.
Lois's radiant spirit touched the lives of many, whether in Albuquerque, Midwest City or Norman. Her infectious smile was a testament to her inner warmth and kindness, and it will forever remain etched in our hearts. She has now found her place in heaven, reuniting with the Lord and her beloved parents and grandparents.
Lois was not only a dedicated professional but also a cherished member of her community. She was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and had a deep love for the Kirk of the Hills Church.
Memorial Service celebrating the Life of Lois Jean will be held 1:00pm, Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Kirk of the Hills Church, 4102 East 61st Street Tulsa, OK 74136.
Lois's memory lives on through her loving family, including her devoted husband, Tom Akin, her son, John D. Akin, her daughter, Amy O'Brien, her daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and her son-in-law, Patrick O'Brien. She is survived by her sisters, Amy Bruns and Anne Ellis of Overland Park, Kansas, her brother, Arden Kaiser of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and her adoring grandsons, Jett and Jace Akin of Plano, Texas, and John Patrick O'Brien of Glenpool, Oklahoma.
Lois's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community. She will forever be missed and remembered for her beautiful smile and the warmth she brought into the lives of those who have known her. Lois's light will continue to shine in our hearts, a beacon of love and kindness that will never dim.
