Larry Ray Burnett, 73, of Catoosa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Larry was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, on March 20, 1952 to Calvin Burnett and Velma "Johnson" Burnett. Larry was the youngest of three children including his brother Joe and sister Judy. Early on, his family moved to Oklahoma and settled in Catoosa, where Larry graduated from Catoosa High School.
Larry met his first love, Jane, during his high school years. They fell in love and married in 1971. Together they built a home in Catoosa, and had a son, Darrel. His early years were spent on their farm with many extended family.
Larry had a love for adventure, especially riding horses-an early passion that reflected his hands-on nature. That same spirit drew him to working on cars, a hobby that grew into a respected career as a heavy machinery mechanic. Whether it was a truck, tractor, or engine in pieces, Larry could fix it. Larry was the kind of person who would always be ready to lend a hand or offer support when someone was in need.
After his wife Jane's passing, Larry was fortunate to find love again with his current wife Sue. He gained a step-daughter and step-son-in-law. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a supportive brother, and a loyal friend. His greatest joy came from time spent with his loved ones, and he was never happier than when surrounded by them.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Velma, his first wife Jane, and brother Joe.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sue "Magness" Burnett; his son, Darrel Burnett and wife Jennifer; his stepdaughter, Jami and her husband Jamey; his grandchildren-Dayton, Greyson, Lexi, and Addi; and his sister, Judy Martin.
He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will remember his generosity and strength.
Larry Burnett lived life with integrity, humility, and heart. He will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the values he lived by will continue to inspire all who knew him.
