Lanora E. Hilsheimer

July 23, 1920 — April 2, 2006

Hilsheimer, Lanora E., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 2, 2006. She was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on July 23, 1920 to Calvin and Bertha Schroff. She graduated with honors from Blackwell High School, and then attended the St. John Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN. She married George Hilsheimer on September 2, 1941. During World War II she worked as an RN at the Oklahoma A&M Infirmary while her husband served in the European Theater. After the war, they resided in Tulsa and moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma in 1970. She was active in and served as President of the Gamma Child Study Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sand Springs and the Philbrook Garden Club. Her husband preceded her in death, as did a brother, Russell Shroff and a sister, Lela Houston. She is survived by a son, Dan Hilsheimer and wife, Shirley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a daughter, Kitty Durkee and husband, Charles of Mansfield, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Scott Durkee of Mansfield, Texas ,Chad and Mark Hilsheimer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Katy Durkee of Dallas, Texas; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Neomah Shroff of Halstead, Kansas and Corabel Ruggs of Lovington, New Mexico.
Services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with interment immediately following.
