Krystal Nicole Ballance, born June 12, 1978, in El Reno, Oklahoma, passed away on November 30, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished sister, Krystal's life was defined by her deep devotion to family, her generous heart, and the warmth she brought into every room she entered.
Krystal grew up in El Reno, where her strong family roots shaped the caring, supportive woman she became. She attended nursing school and devoted much of her life to raising her children with patience, guidance, and unwavering love. Her home was always a place of comfort-often filled with good food, laughter, and children running through the halls.
Known as the best cook of Indian tacos, Krystal poured love into every meal she made. Cooking was one of her greatest joys, and she shared it freely, whether treating her kids to their favorite takeout, watching cooking shows for fun, or preparing dishes that brought everyone together. She found happiness in feeding the people she loved.
Krystal enjoyed attending powwows and sundances, honoring traditions and passing values down to her children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to her, and her greatest pride was being "Grandma." Her grandchildren-Daxx, Jamir, Serenity, Kai, Je'lani, and Jamond Jr.-were her heart's treasure. She supported them, doted on them, and loved them without limits.
Krystal is survived by her children-Samon Washburn, Steven Washburn, John Ballance, Nia Ballance, Jakoby Franklin, and Jazmin Ballance-who will carry her strength, her love, and her teachings forward. She is also survived by her siblings Alviro Ballance and Lindsay Smith, her aunt Mary Carpenter; her uncle LightFoot; and her godmother Gwenetta Hunt.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Thomas, her mother, Minnie Ballance and her sister Alexandra Williams.
Krystal will be remembered for her kindness, her resilience, and the way she lifted others simply by being herself. Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the traditions she honored, and the love she gave so freely. She will be forever missed and forever cherished.
