Kent Harjo was not a quiet soul. He was a storm, a fire, a warrior walking this earth in human form. He lived with intensity, loved with depth, and carried a spirit that refused to be small.
Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kent grew into a man with a strong heart and an unbreakable presence. He stood firm in who he was-a son, a brother, a father, and a Grandpappy-someone who left an imprint on every life he touched. To know Kent was to feel him-his energy, his laughter, his pain, and his loyalty.
Kent had the spirit of a warrior-resilient, proud, and enduring. He stood tall in a world that often tries to break strong souls. He may have stumbled, but he always carried a strength that cannot be measured by perfection, only by perseverance.
Kent was preceded in death by those who welcomed him home: his sister, Colvina Battiest; his father, Calvin Battiest Jr.; his grandmother, Evelyn Harjo; his grandmother, Yvonne Buckley; and his grandfather, Calvin Battiest Sr.
As a brother, Kent was irreplaceable. The bond shared is one that does not end with death. It lives on in memories, in laughter that echoes through time, and in the quiet moments where his presence is still felt. He was part of something deeper than words—a connection of blood, spirit, and love.
Kent leaves behind a family who will carry his name and memory forward: his mother, Miranda Harjo; his brother, Marlin Harjo; his sisters, Cheri, Monya, Raven, and Chelsea; his beloved daughter, Mercedes; and his Pappy's cherished granddaughter, Saphira. He also leaves behind his stepchildren, Addison and Makenzey, along with several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends whose lives were forever touched by him.
His life reminds us that people are more than their struggles. They are their love, their laughter, their fight, and the way they made others feel. Kent's story is not one of defeat, but of humanity-raw, real, and powerful.
He now walks on, free from pain, carried by the ancestors, his spirit returned to a place of peace. Though his physical presence is gone, his voice, his strength, and his memory remain.
Kent Harjo will never be forgotten. His name will be spoken, his story will be told, and his spirit will continue to live on in those who love him.
Rest now, warrior. You are home.
