Kathlyn "Kathy" Walker left this earth on May 7, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of those who knew her. She was born on June 10, 1959, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Rachel (Chupco) Walker. Kathy was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northeast High School.
Following graduation, she dedicated her life to caring for others through her work in the healthcare field. She eventually became a Certified Nurses Aid, where she lovingly served many nursing home residents with compassion, patience, and kindness. Kathy was also a proud citizen of the Seminole Nation, carrying deep pride in her heritage throughout her life.
Above all else, Kathy's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her daughter, Melissa Walker. The bond they shared was one of deep love, closeness, and devotion. Family meant everything to Kathy, and she treasured the relationships she had with those she loved, especially the closeness she shared with her mother.
Kathy had a creative spirit and found joy in making beautiful things with her hands. She enjoyed beadwork and many forms of art, with one of her specialties being the painting of birdhouses. She also had a tender heart for animals, especially her beloved cats, Lucy and Baby Girl, who brought her much happiness and companionship.
Kathy loved the outdoors and simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed riding bicycles and taking walks along the river parks, where she could appreciate nature and the peace it brought her. She was also a devoted Oklahoma Sooners fan, especially when it came to football season.
Later in life, Kathy found love and companionship with her life partner, Benji Chotkey. Their time together was deeply meaningful, and though Benji passed away in 2021 from COVID, he remained forever in Kathy's heart. Kathy's spiritual roots were important to her throughout her life. Her brother, Sanford, fondly remembered their childhood days attending Hilltop Indian Presbyterian Church in Wewoka, where Kathy's faith and joyful spirit were nurtured from an early age. Those who knew Kathy will remember her as a happy, vibrant soul who was full of life. She had a warm smile, a loving heart, and a way of bringing joy to those around her.
Kathy is lovingly survived by her daughter, Melissa Walker; her brother, Sanford Walker; her sister, Andrea Ruedy and husband Steve; her brother, Charles Chupco and wife Jane; along with nephews, Rodney, Daniel and Mark, many cousins and numerous friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her life partner, Benji Chotkey; her parents, Andrew and Rachel Walker; her grandparents, Philip and Louisa Walker; and her grandparents, James C. and Bettie Chupco.
Though Kathy has departed this earthly life, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
