Judith Ann Brantly

March 25, 1944 — October 18, 2023

Judith Ann Parks Brantly passed peacefully from this life on October 18, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma after struggling and bravely battling lung disease. Her husband and eldest son were by her side.

Judy was born March 25, 1944, to B.E. and Virginia (Landers) Parks in Minden, Louisiana. She attended Athens elementary school and Homer High School. When Judy was a senior in high school, she met John Brantly on a blind date. John admits he was blindly in love and the couple remained devoted to one another for 58 years after their marriage on June 04, 1965. Judy was a proud and dedicated mom of two sons, Bryan and David.

Following graduation from high school, Judy attended Ayres Business School in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she earned a Secretarial Science degree. Her skills were utilized in many part-time employment opportunities outside of the home, beginning at United Gas Company. Judy would go on to serve as secretary to a bank president, church financial secretary, secretary to Louisiana State University’s AG Science department, and St. Francis Hospital Drug Information, where she remained until her retirement. At home, Judy enjoyed her hobbies of music and bargain hunting while shopping. Judy was an accomplished pianist. Everyone that would have the privilege of hearing her play piano could see her love for music.

Judy was a faithful Christian who walked humbly with God and was a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church and the Heritage Sunday School class. As a daily Bible reader, Judy viewed prayer time as a time to listen to God.

Preceding Judy in death were her parents, B.E. and Virginia Landers-Parks and her sister Jean Parks-Stevens. Judy is survived by her husband John Brantly, and sons Bryan and David Brantly. Her passing is also grieved by an extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews as well as a number of long-time close friends.

Memorial services will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Rose Chapel at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, 1301 South Boston Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74119.

In keeping with Judy’s compassion for those struggling and overcoming hardship, the family requests that donations be made to Stand in the Gap Ministries of Tulsa or the American Lung Association.
