Johnny Scott Sadler, 54, passed away on December 7, 2025. He was born on February 17, 1971, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and grew up just down the road in the tight-knit community of Twin Hills. From an early age, Johnny developed a deep love for the outdoors-one that would shape his entire life.
A proud graduate of Morris High School, Class of 1989, Johnny spent his childhood exploring the woods, creeks, and fields around his home. He began hunting at a young age, and it quickly became one of his greatest passions. Deer season was a highlight of every year, and he was known for being a skilled and dedicated hunter. One of his most memorable accomplishments was harvesting an elk right here in Oklahoma-an achievement very few hunters can claim.
Johnny was also an avid bass fisherman, happiest with a rod in his hand and the sun coming up over the water. Whether hunting, fishing, floating the Illinois River, or cooking out with his family, he cherished every moment spent outdoors and with the people he loved.
He worked throughout his life as an HVAC and refrigeration technician, keeping large commercial cooling systems running smoothly for restaurants and businesses across the area. Johnny took pride in his work and was known for being reliable, skilled, and always willing to help.
Johnny had a soft heart and a gentle spirit. As a boy, he once struck a hummingbird with his BB gun-a nearly impossible shot-and was devastated that he had hurt such a delicate creature. That moment stayed with him for life and was just one example of the compassion that defined him.
He loved good food shared with family, holidays filled with laughter, and Christmas most of all. Johnny also loved music and dancing, especially the two-step, and he never passed up an opportunity to enjoy life. A true dog lover, he always had a four-legged friend by his side.
Above all else, Johnny treasured his family. His daughter, Ashley, was his pride and joy, and becoming a grandfather was one of the greatest blessings of his life. His grandchildren-Cali, Chloe, Cooper Myers, and Brantly Mustin-were his world, and he adored every moment spent with them.
Johnny is survived by his parents, Rass and Cassie Sadler; his brother Jason Sadler; brother Patrick Payne; his sister Joy and her husband, Clark Whitaker; his daughter Ashley Mustin and her husband, Kyle; and his cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joyce and John Rainwater.
Johnny lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. He will be remembered for his kindness, his love of the outdoors, and his unwavering devotion to the people who meant the most to him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A life well lived and a man that was truly loved.
