John Ferrin Moss

Aug 2, 1938 — Jun 25, 2026

John Ferrin Moss entered the gates of Heaven peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 87.

John was born on August 2, 1938, in Vian, Oklahoma, to James and Mary Moss. As the youngest of ten children, he grew up in a devoted Christian family, surrounded by love and strong faith. During his childhood, he developed a love for the outdoors that remained with him throughout his life.

John built a successful career as a top-producing insurance agent, earning the respect of colleagues through his integrity, leadership, and dedication. As a member of the Million Dollar Club and a nationally recognized top producer for multiple insurance companies, he achieved remarkable success throughout his career. His outstanding performance earned him numerous awards and memorable vacation trips, which he and Jean enjoyed together, creating cherished memories along the way. Of all the destinations he visited, Austria remained his favorite.

He was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved fishing for blue catfish and bird hunting. His passion for quail hunting led him to compete in-and win-several hunting competitions. Above all, John was a man of deep and unwavering faith. He faithfully served as a deacon and played an integral role as a leader in his church, faithfully serving his congregation with humility, wisdom, and compassion. He deeply loved his church and church family and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he was needed. He believed that worshiping together as a family was a priority and made sure his family was in church whenever the doors were open. His steadfast faith, servant's heart, and commitment to his family were the foundation of the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Moss, all nine of his siblings, and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.

John is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Jean Moss; his son, David Moss and wife, Madalyn; his daughters, Deanne Cariker and husband, Marty, and Kara Rister and husband, Ed; his cherished grandchildren, Derek and wife, Lauranne, Allie, Jared, Mycah, Katie, Jonathan, Hannah, and Elizabeth; his beloved great-grandchildren, Paige, Jaxson, Natalie, Callahan, and Crucyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory and the legacy of faith, love, and kindness he leaves behind.
