John Ferrin Moss

John Ferrin Moss entered the gates of Heaven peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 87.

John was born on August 2, 1938, in Vian, Oklahoma, to James and Mary Moss. As the youngest of ten children, he grew up in a devoted Christian family surrounded by love and strong faith. During his childhood, he developed a love for the outdoors that remained with him throughout his life.

John built a rewarding career in the insurance industry, earning the respect of colleagues through his integrity, leadership, and dedication. His hard work and commitment were recognized throughout the years with several professional honors and opportunities to travel, which he and Jean enjoyed together, creating cherished memories. Of all the destinations they visited together, they both found Austria to be the most memorable.

He was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved fishing for blue catfish and hunting. Above all, John was a man of deep and unwavering faith. He faithfully served as a deacon and played an important leadership role in his church, serving his congregation with humility, wisdom, and compassion. He deeply loved his church family and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he was needed. He believed that worshiping together as a family was a priority and made sure his family was in church whenever the doors were open. His steadfast faith, servant's heart, and commitment to his family were the foundation of the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Moss; all nine of his siblings; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

John is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Jean Moss; his son, David Moss and wife, Madalyn; his daughters, Deanne Cariker and husband, Marty, and Kara Rister and husband, Ed; his cherished grandchildren, Derek and wife, Lauranne, Allison, Jared, Mycah, Katie, Jonathan, Hannah, and Elizabeth; his beloved great-grandchildren, Paige, Jaxson, Natalie, Callahan, and Crucyn; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory and the legacy of faith, love, and kindness he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Faith Church, 1901 W. 171st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma, with Pastor Toby Youngblood officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory with a donation to Faith Church or the National Alzheimer's Association .
