Joel Arthur Vogel, 66, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on December 4, 2025. Born on November 1, 1959, in St. Louis to Joel Vogel Sr. and Alberta Vogel, Joel built a life defined by creativity, craftsmanship, and an unwavering love for the people around him.
A dedicated business owner, inventor, and manufacturer of surgical instruments, Joel poured his heart into Vogel Instruments. His shop was his sanctuary-where ideas came to life, where neighbors were always welcome, and where he felt most himself. He loved visiting with friends, watching movies, and sharing long conversations about life. In his earlier years, he found joy in painting, camping, and building-most notably the beautiful home where he raised his family. He was a true lover of life and nature, grounded in curiosity and fueled by passion.
Joel is survived by his son, Jake Vogel; his daughter, Nikki Vogel; his granddaughter, Abbie Vogel; his sister, Rhea King, and brother-in-law Dan King; and his nieces, Bre King and Marley King. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberta Vogel and Joel Vogel Sr.
Smart, genuine, and hardworking, Joel was the kind of person who could make you laugh with nothing more than a mischievous glance-pointing at absolutely nothing just to get you to "look," then chuckling like it was the greatest joke ever told. He adored '90s movies, especially The Terminator, and he rarely said goodbye without attempting-often terribly-his signature Arnold Schwarzenegger impression: "I'll be back."
Joel will be deeply missed by countless family members, friends, neighbors, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
