Jimmy Parrish, age 74, a devoted father, proud grandfather, and faithful son, was called to his eternal resting place on January 2, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1951, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to William and Mary Parrish, who raised him with strong values, a hard work ethic, and a deep sense of loyalty to family and country.
Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his courage, resilience, and quiet strength. After returning home, Jimmy built a life rooted in service and craftsmanship. He spent several years driving a school bus for Caney Valley Schools, where he was known for his reliability and care for the children he transported. A skilled gunsmith, Jimmy took pride in working with his hands and doing things the right way.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jimmy found peace in the woods and on the water. He loved to hunt and fish, especially when those moments were shared with his grandsons, creating memories they will carry for a lifetime. Evenings often found him enjoying a good Western, particularly a classic starring John Wayne-stories of grit, honor, and justice that mirrored the values he lived by.
Jimmy was a man who showed up when he was needed, never hesitating to lend a hand or offer support. His presence was steady, his word dependable, and his love for his family unwavering. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and the quiet ways he cared for those around him.
He is survived by his children, Laura Parrish; Sarah Escoe and her husband, Bubba Escoe, along with their children, Braxton and Braylen Escoe; and Michael Parrish. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Long and her husband, Tom Long, and his brother, Tommy Parrish.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Parrish, as well as his brother and sister.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and forever remembered by those who loved him.
